Google Plus 1 – Organizing Your Google Plus 1 Contacts

Posted by gp1 on September 23, 2011

Google Plus 1 Contacts

Your contacts on Google Plus 1 can be organized into “circles”. Your G+ circles are probably going to be pretty empty to start with, but there are several resources you can use to create bigger “circles”.

Google Plus 1 now has many directories.  You can search through them to find people who may be interested in your particular niche, or who are looking for the service you can provide.  Of course, you need to add yourself to the directory and create your profile.  Think of this as another social network resource and you won’t go far wrong!

Just as you are looking for thousands of Google Plus 1 users – they are also looking for you!

Google Plus 1 Directories

Here is a popular directory link for you: Google Plus 1 Directory 1

All you have to do is copy and paste your Google Plus 1 account ID (this is a set of numbers that represent your Google + account) into the directory page and you will be added immediately – it is as simple as that.

You can also go here: Google+1 Directory 2.

Did you know that this site already has 1 million users?  It is still growing at quite a pace so be sure to add your Google+ profile page to this directory as soon as possible, if you want to increase traffic to your web page or blog posts.  There are several search footprints you can use to find people.  The best thing is to go there and “play”.

Try this one also: Google Plus One Directory 3.

Here you can search for people by using tags and categories so that you can carry out targeted searches rather than simply look for gender and location, etc.  It’s a great way to find people who are looking for what you offer.  This is another reason why you must have your Google Plus 1 profile looking as professional as your sales letters.

Google Plus 1 and Forums

Many people like to use forums to promote their services.  All you need to do is paste your Google Plus 1 account ID profile link into your forum signature with a short note to call them to action by adding you for more information.  Use it much in the same way that you ask people to add themselves to your Facebook page through Twitter.

You can use this Google Plus Link to shorten your profile link.  Also add this to your Facebook, Twitter and other social network profile pages that you have.  Add it to your own blog and even as your link page when you comment on other blog posts.  Get your profile link “out there” so that you are more likely to rank for the keywords in your Google Plus 1 profile headline.

Google Plus 1 – Importing Your Facebook Contacts

If you have a healthy FB following, you will want to add them to your Google Circles.  Here is how to do this very quickly without having to ask each follower or fan to add themselves, one by one.  Use Yahoo to do it!

Yahoo mail has a very useful tool that can be used to import your FB fans and followers directly into Google Plus 1

If you do not have one already, then sign up for a Yahoo email account: http://www.mail.yahoo.com. Please note that if this is a new account you will have to wait 14 days to be able to use this tool.  If you have a Yahoo email account already, then great, use it here.

Log in to your Yahoo email account and then click the “contacts” tab (top of screen).  You will then click on the button to import contacts (next to the FB sign).  You will then be able to select where you want to import your new contacts from.   Select the FB logo and log in to FB through this Yahoo email account.  It may take a few minutes to complete the import, when you will see just how many FB contacts have now been imported.

Google Plus 1 – Circles – Find and Invite

Now log in to your Google Plus 1 account and click on your “Circles” tab.  You can now go to the “Find and Invite” link and click on the Yahoo sign.  You will get a pop-up asking you to agree to the request.  When you click on “Agree” you give Google the permission to import all your contacts from Yahoo, which, of course, are all your FB contacts.

Just remember, if you have to sign up for a new account with Yahoo, that you must wait 14 days before you are able to import contacts – but there is no faster or easier way to import thousands of followers into your Google +1  account, with a few simple clicks!

Setting Up Your Google Plus 1 Account

Posted by gp1 on September 20, 2011

Google Traffic to Google Plus 1

Google is the search engine that people use most and so it is always a good idea to get as much exposure on Google as you can.  Google Plus 1 is a tool that can give you this exposure.  Google+1 pages do not affect your page ranking on Google SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages), but having them does help when you are looking for promoting your site.

Setting Up Your Google Plus 1 Account

Like everything else to do with social network tools, like Google Plus 1, you need to optimize your account profile.  In this way, you can make your profile visible in search engines – in effect, it is almost like having another web page for free.  And as everyone knows in SEO, profile pages are always rich sources of back-links to the site you want to promote.

The headline you use on your profile pages is crucial!

When someone makes a search on Google, you notice the description in the search result.  The headline you set up on your +1 account is the one that will appear in the search engine result listing.  So, it is very important to create a headline that will attract the people you want to come and look at all you are offering.  It is another step in creating a relationship with your customer – they can find out about you before they go look at your web site.

Google Plus 1 Account Keywords

If you are a chiropractor, then make sure that you include that in your Google Plus 1 profile headline and even more so, if you are looking for a local market.  For example, you can put San Diego Chiropractor in your headline, if you are looking to build your practice in San Diego.  When someone is searching for a chiropractor in San Diego, these words will appear in bold type to attract the attention of the searcher.

Google Plus 1 Account Profiles

I’ve already said that Google Plus 1 will not guarantee you a first page listing on Google.  It is pretty much obvious to anyone that Google could not positively discriminate in favor of their own “property”.  But, as noted above, your +1 profile will help people find you.

The forgotten factor is having the links to your blog and/or sales pages.  If people find your profile when looking for a chiropractor in San Diego, they are more likely to click through to your web page = more traffic.  So make sure you take time with your Google Plus 1 profile set-up and pay as much attention to it as you would to the SEO on your blog and sales pages.

Google Plus 1 – Adding the +1 feature to your Website or Blog

Facebook has grown so big that just about everyone is aware of the “like” button on web pages, but what about the +1 button?  More and more we are beginning to see this appear on web pages.  The incredible thing about this feature is in its viral nature.  Each time someone hits the +1 button, they add your link to share with their particular network of Google “circle” of friends.

Make it as easy as possible for people to Google Plus 1 (+1) your page content!

Of course, the first thing you need to do is +1 your own content!  Then your network of Google Plus 1 contacts will be able to see your link and could even +1 the page to their network of Google contacts… and so on… it can become extremely viral very quickly!

Google Plus 1 Button

Make it easy for people to +1 your pages by adding a +1 button.  Google gives great instruction on how to do this here: Google Plus 1.

To create a Google Plus 1 Button::

  • Take a look at the buttons – they come in different sizes, so make sure you select one that will fit in best with your blog or web page, and at the same time, making it easy to find.
  • You can then add a pop-up note to the Google Plus 1 button; something like: “Click the +1 button to add this link to your friends as ‘your name’.”
  • Google Plus 1 gives you the code to put into your blog or web page – simply copy and paste this code in the place you want the +1 to appear.

Google Plus 1 Plugin

If, like me, you love to create web sites with WordPress, you will be pleased to know that there is a free WP Google Plus 1 Plugin that you can use without having to mess around with adding coding to your web site – it does it all for you!
